As each new climate report is released, the enormous challenges which must be engaged in order to address our global sustainability crises become more evident. It has become clear that technical and external solutions will not be enough to bring about the changes which need to be made. Consequently, the significance of inner transformation in humans, through practices of deep engagement, are receiving more attention. In this project the aim is to investigate the modalities, outcomes, challenges, and impact of providing an appropriate menu of Inner Development Practices to climate activists (SDG13) in Ireland. Having listened to activists’ accounts of the symptoms, causes, and implications of overwhelm in their ongoing campaigning work, two interventions will be offered from (1) Spiritual Intelligence practices (2) Integral Human Development insights. The impact of these interventions on the lived realities of climate activism will be mapped through reflective diaries. The intended outcomes include (a) a catalogue of beneficial practices to sustain SDG activism (b) an IDG hub in Ireland to network with global hubs of practice (c) contributions to Ireland’s Second National Strategy on Education for Sustainable Development: ESD to 2030, (d) the development of materials for a micro credential in Mindful Approaches to SDG action.
