Catherine Etmanski, Community Based Research

This video dialogue is with Dr. Catherine Etmanski, Associate Professor at Royal Roads University on the West Coast of Canada where she leads and teaches graduate programs in leadership. Currently on a scholarship term and writing about alternative food systems, Catherine herself is particularly engaged in bringing the arts to action research, a way to foment knowledge democracy. We speak about her edited volume, with co-editors Budd Hall, & Teresa Dawson.  (2014).  Learning and Teaching Community-Based Research: Linking Pedagogy to Practice.  Toronto, ON: University of Toronto Press. We talk about the relationship between Community Based Research in the ecology of action research practices and the promise of action research for a future where we know we must love and work more collaboratively.  A review of this edited volume is available on the AR+ review forum. A preview of Catherine’s chapter is available here.
