2026 Fire Pyre Ritual at Lunasa

AR+, companion to the action research journal, offers a variety of supports for action researchers in the form of newsletters, podcasts, blogs and coLABs. These have been flourishing for over seven years already. During that time we've also hosted wonderful in-person Gatherings every other year. Is it time to compost what we've been learning? Who knows, something new may arise!

You are now cordially invited to be a part of "letting go" fire pyre ritual, that is a letting go of what AR+ has been, and not, for you.

Please consider yourself warmly invited to be part of this inquiry-in-action in the form of an alchemical-pyre in high summer. It is hosted by AR+ members, Drs. Simon Divecha and Alexandra Stubbings with enthusiastic participation of Dr. Hilary Bradbury, founder/curator at AR+ Foundation and founder-Editor in Chief at Action Research Journal.

We'll meet around the Zoom Pyre on August 20th at 5 PM GMT. This is a synchronous gathering on ZOOM lasting 90 mins

Predesign at Lúnasa: 

On/around August 1st - and to help and prepare for Aug 20th - we invite you into a brief harvest and weaving of your own reflections on AR+. For this please set aside 5 - 10 minutes. This exercise may be done in own time and in your own space, choosing a 24 hour window around the August 1st  Celtic Lúnasa festival. Vis a vis AR+, please contemplate and capture responses to two prompts to be shared at the mural link at the end:

1. What are you celebrating? Collect, photo, and/or write something brief.

2. What are you letting go of? - Collect, photo, and/or write something brief.

Our ritual is for any and all whose action research journey has included AR+ over the past seven plus years. Whether you've been dipping in and out, or been a regular participant within multiple 9-month coLABs; whether reading an action research blog/ARJ article, listening to a podcast or having travelled to one of our Gatherings in Sweden, online during Covid, Italy, Ireland.

Whatever AR+ has been for you, let's feel into how it wants to become something else. The idea here is to let the composting-through-fire create the conditions for new growth to be seeded by collective needs and intentions. This pyre seeks to invite especially those who see a role for AR+ as a global space that can continue to support action researchers at this time of societal unbecoming and re-becoming.

It is also possible that AR+ will simply cease to be. We don't know (that's the fun!) and hence the invitation.
